our diy entertainment center.

we finally got our new entertainment center completed! our last entertainment center was one that i had picked up from ikea in college. my roommates and i put it together one night while drinking a few too many beers. the legs were on backwards and the drawers were installed wrong. haha. needless to say, it was time for nick and i to get a new home for our tv and DVDs and board games, etc.

we were looking online for one a white one with storage, but they are so dang expensive. i loved the look of this pottery barn modular wall system...

after scouring craiglist, we came across one for $300 with storage and similar glass windows, but it was oak colored, not white. we offered the guy $100 for it, and he took our offer, so we decided to paint it white!

i wish i had a better "before" picture!

after sanding, two coats of primer and two coats of paint (thank god for husbands!), we finally got it set up in our living room and it looks great!

so happy for the extra storage and display cases! there are even lights inside the cases. overall, it cost us about $300 - $100 for the entertainment center, $100 for the rental truck to get it home, and $100 for paint, primer and supplies. i think we got a great deal.
