a royal wedding.

so, i didn't wake up super early to watch the royal wedding, but as soon as i woke up this morning (after hitting the snooze button) i pulled up a picture of kate's dress on my iphone. it is perfect! she looks so gorgeous... i LOVE the lace sleeves. i kind of want to get married again (to the same man, of course!), just so i can wear a dress like her's. and the hats! wow. i want one of those now too!

now that i know what her dress looks like, i am curious... where are they going on their honeymoon?

i have about 6 hours of wedding coverage on my DVR that i need to catch up on. i hope everyone has a great weekend. and congratulations to william and kate!

i wanna make a statement.

i am loving these statement necklaces from anthropologie. they'd make any outfit fit instantly more cool. and, all are less than $60 - bonus! maybe i'll make more that one statement...

fun at work.

i know i post a lot a bout work now.

or, if i'm not blogging, its because i'm working.

nick has joked before that if you work at our company, you "drink the kool-aid" because it's such a different culture where we work. for example, its a really young crowd, driven, competitive group, but we have happy hours at work, ping-pong and dodgeball tournaments and an american idol-esque singing competition.

we work really hard, but we play hard too. so it's fun!

last week was our american idol competition at work. well, actually we rented out a bar with a stage and lighting and a dj. i'm telling you... people take this very seriously!  we competed in groups based on functional group (ie, materials vs. supervisors vs. distribution, etc). everyone wears costumes and has choreography and changes the lyrics to be funny or pander the judges (who are our companies VPs).

my group did a verison of 'wannabe' by the spice girl. (we didn't win.)

our manufacturing engineers, however, did win in the "most innovative" category. they actually made a video parody of friday by rebecca black. watch her (ridiculous) video first here if you haven't seen it before.

here's the parody they submitted for our competition. remember, the judges are our bosses' bosses' bosses' bosses. and, i think it's even more fun because these are all engineers and some of the footage is real! (and around 1:48 - i was caught on tape... not working.)

anyway, hope everyone is having a great week and looking forward to FRIDAY. :)

day two in san diego.

our second day in san diego started with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, then a drive over the coronado bridge to check out coronado. we didn't really have plans here, but just drove around and checked out the scenery and lovely homes. we made our way over to pacific beach, where we just relaxed on the beach and soaked up the sun.

(there was really good people watching here, too. haha!)

once we were tired of the rowdy spring break crowd, we decided to head over to la jolla. we ventured over to george's at the cove: ocean terrace, which had gorgeous views of the cove.
Photobucket
i didn't get too many great pictures, but i pulled the ones above from their website. we couldn't have asked for better weather! we sipped on some cocktails and had some calamari here. the view was to die for. after george's, we ventured over to our friend's beach house in la jolla, where we stayed the second night. it was literally a 1 minute walk to the beach. we showered up, watched the sunset at over the ocean, then headed out to ebisu for some sushi.

i left my heart in san... diego.

last weekend, my amazing husband took me to san diego for a fun weekend trip. it was AWESOME. i've had a lot of people tell me san diego was cool, but seriously, i fell in love with that city. the food was delicious, flip flops were widely acceptable, the weather was perfect and the sights are gorgeous.

our first night there we stayed in the gaslamp district downtown at the marriott, where we got upgraded to a suite!! it was so nice. our hotel also had a super fun roof top bar called altitude which overlooked the bay, the Coronado bridge, the baseball field and the rest of downtown. we got there just in time for happy hour too!
Photobucket
too bad there wasn't a baseball game to watch... we would have had a great view!

for dinner our first night, we found one of the hippest spots in town: el camino. the place is genius. its a lounge/tequila bar/patio/restaurant with a contemporary/dia de los muertos/mexican theme. very unique. i had the best burrito i've ever had in my life here. seriously!
Photobucket
the "california burrito" took all my favorites foods and put them into one giant flour tortilla... carne asada, guacamole and french fries. i'm telling you this place is genius. if you are ever in san diego, be sure to stop by! mmm... i'm drooling just thinking about that burrito.

fancy schmancy at work.

today at work i had my first quarterly unit review where i had to present on our business metrics in front of senior staff and about 30 other people. and today was also the first day that i didn't feel like i was playing dress up while wearing a suit. i must be growing up! it went well and i was able to answer everyones' questions intelligently... but, does anyone else get really nervous about speaking in front of a group? something about public speaking makes me feel like i can't breathe. so glad to be done with that! (well, until the end of next quarter.) anyway, nick is traveling right now so i sent him this picture of me all dressed up!

hope everyone is having a great week!

christmas 2008

dear mom and baba,

happy birthday to my lovely mother and grandmother. i wish that i could give both of you a big hug and a kiss. and then, we could all go shopping to celebrate our birthdays! baba, i also wish that i got your legs. but, that's another story! :) mom, i hope 39 is a wonderful year for you! and, baba, you make 59 look gooood.

and remember, the secret to staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age!

i have a feeling that 25 is going to be a great year for me.

i'm celebrating with friends tonight at my new favorite mexican restaurant in town.
(after all, it just wouldn't feel like my birthday without a margarita!)

nicholas is giving an AWESOME present... a trip to san diego for the weekend!

so if you have any recommendations for san diego (places to eat, things to see, etc)
please let me know... we've never been before!
