oh, that rum...

barbados is amazing.

something about the sunshine made us giddy

and we had more fun than we could've imagined.

we went snorkeling with gigantic sea turtles

and had a dance-off on a catamaran.

we stayed in st lawrence gap - known for its restaurants and nightlife, 

but ventured to oistins and up the platinum coast.

we drank coffee on our balcony over looking the ocean each morning

and sat in our private hot tub when it poured one afternoon.

we danced with the locals and held a monkey at a fish fry.

we couldn't quite woo our way into the pool 

at the ultra luxurious sandy lane.

so we stopped at the country club for lunch and ogling.

we ate barracuda and mahi mahi and my favorite... 

bread pudding with rum sauce. and just for fun,

we took a shot of tequila every morning.

the bajans drove on the left side of the road and 

we had to be extra careful to look BOTH ways before we crossed the street.

we didn't play cricket, but we dominated the sand volleyball court.

we laughed and danced and had an amazing time.

let's remember the one day of sunshine we've had this summer...

so far, our sunny california summer has been anything but. last weekend it rained and rained and rained all weekend... kind of like spring. but on the sunday before memorial day, the weather was glorious! it was sunny and warm and breezy.... we took advantage of our twenty-four hours of sunshine and went wine tasting.

we tried 2 different wineries in the santa cruz mountains... testarossa is really close to our casa. they had live music and outdoor seating. we just bought (and finished) a bottle there rather than doing a tasting. 

we'd love to come back to tessarossa with some of our new friends and have a picnic (once the sun comes out again!). 

then we made our way to byington winery which is further in the mountains. 

great views and good wine and lots of fun!

did y'all realize that yesterday (june 3rd) was national doughnut day? apparently it's the first Friday in June every year. well, if i must indulge...

my co workers and i decided to participate and oh boy, was it delicious! now, i'm on a mission to visit both dyanmo donuts in san francisco and psycho donuts in san jose. looking at those menus just make me drool. do yourself a favor and have a donut this weekend!

two weeks until i'm...

oh my goodness! is it really already JUNE? this year is flying by. being that is it now june, we are two weeks away from our vacation to barbados!! i have been dreaming about the warm, tropical air and relaxing on the beach. i'm already mentally packing. i've decided a trip to the beach wouldn't be complete without...

at least one good book. i'll be reading water for elephants. (any other good suggestions?)
