We ended up in Sausalito for the Fourth. Just north of the Golden Gate bridge, this little town is such a gem. It's right on the water, with views of Alcatraz and San Francisco across the bay... cute shops and restaurants downtown and houses on the hillside with unbelievable views.
We spent the Fourth in Sausalito two years ago, and loved it so much we decided to come back. The city puts on a concert in a park, and this year's band, LiveWire, was so fun and full of energy! We got to the park early to stake out a spot with our chairs and blanket, but by 6:30 we were surrounded by people who cozied their blanket up right next to ours. I guess that's the price you pay for such prime fireworks real estate.
Early birds with our prime spot!
The evening turned out to be one of the very best for people watching! This one middle-aged gentleman danced by himself, right in front of the stage, for all 3 hours the band played. It was HILARIOUS!!!! I wish I could share that sight with all of you... Haha.
Although we had every intention of trying Hamburgers for our "picnic" dinner, we showed up too late - they close at 5 - and so we just grabbed food to-go from Bridgeway Cafe... it was great though! We listened to the cover band, ate our picnic and drank wine out of these very fancy glasses while we waited for the sun to set.
Everyone was up and dancing to the music as the sun set!
